Charlotte Marathon 2024: Event Details and Registration

Event Overview:
Formerly known as the Thunder Road Marathon, the Charlotte Marathon combines the excitement of road racing with the vibrancy of live music, family-friendly activities, and a celebration of Charlotte’s rich heritage, including its love for stock car racing. This event is a significant attraction for both locals and visitors.
Race Course:
The marathon kicks off in uptown Charlotte, taking runners on a scenic journey through the city’s iconic neighborhoods and landmarks. Starting in the heart of the city, the course heads toward Randolph and Providence, winding through the oak-lined streets of the Foxcroft community near Sharon Road and Arbor Way. The route then loops back towards uptown, passing through the historic Myers Park, along Queens Road, and through the revitalized Dilworth community. Runners will enjoy a view of the Bank of America Stadium, home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.
The race continues through the artistic North Davidson area, known for its vibrant music scene and nightlife. As participants head back uptown, they will pass the historic Plaza-Midwood, one of Charlotte’s earliest settlements, before making their way along Central Avenue and 7th Avenue. The final stretch leads runners along McDowell Street, with a right turn onto 2nd Street, culminating at the finish line where cheering crowds and the coveted Charlotte Marathon medal await.
